The Seven Habits
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 1: Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."
Reflection: When i first red this first habit i was 12 years old just starting middle school and when i read this habit i was in my leader ship class. I was very shy and non proactive and i didn't want to be shy for the rest of my middle and high school days. And when my leadership teacher was teaching us about The Seven Habits i would gain lots of confident and i did. These 7 ways helped me a lot in the past years and still has.
Quote: "Real freedom is creative, proactive, and will take me into new territories. I am not free if my freedom is predicated on reacting to my past."
Kenny Loggins
Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)
Reflection: Beginning with the end of mine means to me to have a clear understanding of you as a person. What it also means is It means to know where you're going so that you better understand where you are now so that the steps you take are setting you to a really bright future. An example may be When you are in a sports team or when you join a club.
Quote:"Before you start anything, learn how to finish it."
Habit 3; Put first things first
"Organize and execute around priorities."
Reflection: For this habit what my first thought about it was that you put the most important things first in your life. An example of this habit could be or even might be like if your at home and you are doing homework and your sister or brother asked you for help on there homework so you do the most important thing first is help your siblings first because you know that you can finish your homework later on.
Quote: "Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out."
Stephen Covey
Habit 4: Think win-win
"Think win-win or no deal."
Reflection: My perspective on habit number 4 is to think win win you have to and need to have a positive attitude to try and accomplish what you want to do. An example of a win win situation is like in a sport people that play any type of sport they know that they want the win out of the game and for them to do that they got to think in a positive win win thought and mind set. Most people do not like to think of a win win sratigie like that they just want to just go for the kill like most people say or do.
Quote: " Music reality shows provide a platform to people who have talent and gives them visibility and exposure. It is a win-win situation for participants."
Shreya Ghoshal
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand then to be Understood
"Diagnose before you prescribe."
Reflection: This habit to me means that to hear people out first then to understand so they can see you understand so then they can understand you. An example of seek first to understand then to be understood is lest say you meet a new friend and you need to understand there life so they cam understand yours.
Quote: " Teenagers: the most misunderstood people on earth treated like children & expected to act like adults."
Habit 6: Synergize
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)
Reflection: What the word Synergize means is is the habit of creative cooperation. I had to think about what this word meant because i have never heard it before. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table.
Quote: "Synergy is better than my way or your way. It's our way."
Stephen Covey
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional
Reflection: This habit has lots of more meaning to itself because like Steve Covey said " Covey uses the common analogy of a woodcutter who is sawing for several days straight and is becoming less and less productive. The process of cutting dulls the blade. So the solution is to periodically sharpen the saw." To put this a little bit easier it means you start off really sharp and good but over the time you start to dull. Its saying do not do something the same way all the time try something new and different ,
